Welcome to the journey to your heart space. This month's inquiry is invites us to breakdown any walls that exits between our heartspace and other parts of ourselves. This month of inquiry builds to backbends, preparing and strengthening the back side of the body (posterior chain) to support posture, confidence and ease in opening the energetic heart and tapping into more joy.

Weekly Schedule & Focus for May All-Access

Week 1: May 2 and May 5
Foundation - Meeting the Heart

An introduction to heart chakra, and exploration of our current definitions of joy and the ways we experience joy. Also the start of framing love as commitment and action. Physical practice will center on the solar traditional of **Surya Namaskara**, sun salutations, and include muscle action drills that we will use throughout the series to support safe and courageous back-bending through the month..

Week 2: May 9 and May 12
gratitude

This week continues to build into backbends as we explore a gratitude practice for ourselves, our community and what we have.

Week 3: May 16 and May 19
softening compartments

What are we consuming and creating that separates us from the joy we could experience? This week movement is focused on revolved postures as we consider what pursuing joy is asking us to release.

Week 4: May 23 and May 26
releasing judgement

Our final week brings all the inquiry together, allowing us to expand our definition of our and how we can experience it as the absence of judgment.

Here’s a what we’ve worked on at The Connective over the last few months. Each month’s focus is curated based on the tenets of Ayurveda (a holistic life science that supports the Hatha practice of yoga asana). This ensures that movement and breath are in tangent with nature and its systems (elemental, cultural and celestial), and honors the body’s deeply intuitive connection to cycles, rhythms and seasonality. I believe in living with the cycles and seasons and this method of curating practice. Over the course of the year, this method of curating practice creates progressive attention to the whole body and its physical and subtle layers.

April All-Access

journey to Hanuman.

This month's inquiry is centered on grounding into the Self as the start of inner power. This month of focus on the mechanics and dynamics of Hanumanasana, Splits Pose invites us to grounding into the Root and Sacral Chakra energies of grounding, feelings, agency and creativity while building strength, flexibility and mobility at the hip complex. This series is designed for all levels as we will be prioritizing intention and the journey over the outcome.

March All-Access

journey to headstand.

The focus of this series on the journey to Headstand, versus the destination, will be accompanied by the wisdom of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy of non-duality. We will explore how we encounter reflections of ourselves in postures and off the mat, our dharma, or interconnectedness with each other, and how we manifest and choose liberation for ourselves, and in turn, for the broader collective.

February All-Access

lovestudy.

We turn our attention to the energetic heart, exploring love as a verb versus a feeling. This month, self-inquiry will touch on various pathways and expressions of love, namely: self-love, lovingkindness, forgiveness and grief. This month’s inquiry of the heart starts our progression through the Liberation Channel of the Chakras (heart, throat, third eye & crown).

I am alllll up in my feels at the end of the April "Journey to Headstand" Series. :'''') Endless thanks to Tonie for guiding us on a journey month after month, especially this month. The way she wrapped up this series with the sadhana is so special and a well-received way to cushion the end.

Tonie creates the ultimate yoga experience with strong cues, meditative music and yoga philosophy woven throughout. I have felt so grounded and expansive attending her classes two mornings a week this year.

Thank you for balance of consistency and novelty, Tonie!

This was such a great series. Thoughtful, intentional and challenging, and helped me build a solid headstand practice in a way that I hadn't had before. Thank you!!

Tonie’s headstand series was just what I needed. The series helped me build strength and I can say my headstand feels much more solid. She is such a wonderful teacher, i can not recommend her enough. Her classes are so thoughtful and I always learn something new that helps me improve my practice. I’ve been her student for almost 3 years now and my practice has grown so much from her classes and soaking in her wisdom! Looking forward to joining the next series!
